Library

To start using Musebox you have to create a library file. The library is a database for media you import when using the File > Import Files menu command. The library file contains thumbnails (and optionally, previews) for the imported items.

When you make edits to images or modify metadata using Musebox, the changes are recorded in the library database. Musebox does not modify the original files to store the information.

It can be helpful to make library files for specific purposes. You could make a library for a travel vacation, or you might make libraries for working with different business clients.

If you want to merge data from another library, you can use the File > Import Library menu command. You can choose a library and then select which items to import.

Backups

You can make a backup of your Musebox library database by using the File > Backup Database menu command. This will create an archive file you can open using the Finder if you need to restore the library file.

Restore thumbnails

When you use a library file that you’ve restored from a backup archive, you’ll need to use the Media > Update Thumbnails command, because thumbnails and previews aren’t included in the archive.
