Offline & missing files

Reconnect files

You can reconnect files that Musebox indicates are offline or missing. Select one media version and use the File > Reconnect Files menu command. After reconnecting the selected item, Musebox will look for other items near the reconnected item and ask if you want to reconnect those as well.

Offline volumes

When a file volume is offline or disconnected, an offline badge with a icon will show on the thumbnail and viewer metadata displays; when the volume comes back online it will disappear.

Reconnecting an entire volume

In some cases a volume may be online and Musebox doesn’t recognize it. For example, this may happen if the volume was restored from a Time Machine backup to a new hard drive. You can reconnect all media versions to the new volume by reconnecting just one of them.

  1. Select the offline media version that’s on the volume you want to connect.

  2. Select the File > Reconnect Files menu command.

  3. Use the Reconnect Files dialog to locate the file on the new volume.

If the volume has the same name, it may already be selected.

  4. Click the Reconnect button.

Musebox will present an alert asking if you want to update all items that reference the offline volume to use the one you selected.

  5. Click the Change Volume button.
